Building readiness for rescuers and USAR teams

News

In emergency response, readiness is essential. When every second matters, rescue teams need clear procedures, strong coordination and the ability to act safely in complex situations.
Urban Search and Rescue teams often operate in unstable structures, hazardous environments and rapidly changing situations. Continuous training helps responders strengthen key skills such as search techniques, shoring, rope rescue, medical response, logistics and coordination.
For USAR teams working with national and international partners, regular exercises are essential to ensure interoperability and alignment with recognised emergency response standards.
Through VIATICUM 2, we highlight the importance of practical, realistic and continuous training for rescue professionals. Every hour invested in preparation increases operational capacity and improves the chances of saving lives.
